Meet Jarkko Linna, Principal AI Engineer at Epical
Hi Jarkko, so nice to have some time to chat with you today!
It’s been about a month since you started at Epical so I thought this would be a good point to check in with you and see how your start has been.
💡 You joined Epical as a Principal AI Engineer, can you tell us a bit about your role?
If I try to keep it short, my role is about all things AI, how we use it responsibly internally and externally, how it changes how we work and consult and how we utilize it through our processes at every stage of our journey.
That’s a great way to sum up what your role is all about!
Yes, it’s a very dynamic role that evolves about as fast as AI does.
💡 What’s the best part of your role?
I like building new things and I’m very concrete in how I approach things, and here I get to create new ways of working and affect our future in a very concrete way. There’s a possibility to really influence how we do things and build something new.
💡 If we back up a bit, what was it about Epical that caught your interest?
I actually wasn’t too familiar with Epical before talking about the role, but it didn’t take long for the penny to drop. The more I got to know Epical and the people through the recruitment process, the more potential I could see. The role itself felt like a great challenge and an opportunity to make a real difference.
💡 Was there anything that stood out?
The interview process was really good, and everyone I talked to made a good impression, both personally and of Epical.
We talked a lot about Epical’s virtues and ways of working, and it all felt like a good fit for me. The process was quick, clear and fast, which gave a great impression of a “let’s do it” attitude. The recruitment process gave a very genuine picture of Epical, which made it easy to decide to join.
💡 How has it felt after your start, has it matched your expectations?
Yes definitely, I can see that the culture and the people are like what I expected. As with any new place, there are always things to learn, but I’m happy with the new home I’ve chosen. The people are fantastic and it’s great to see how everyone really helps each other.
💡 Is that collaborative culture something that has stood out so far?
Yes, definitely! I believe that if we help each other succeed, we’ll all succeed and in turn we’ll get to help our clients succeed as well - that’s the key to everything.
What a way to wrap it up, thank you for taking the time, Jarkko, and once again welcome to Epical, we’re really happy to have you onboard!
Thank you! 🧡
